چکیده

Mud crab Scylla serrata of Kotania Bay and Pelita Jaya Western Seram District, has been harvested by local fishermen for more than 25 years. The mud high economic value, there is always a market this fishery. dependence the forces them to harvest resource extensively. No existing management strategy extensive exploitation leads unsustainable conditions With inadequate data condition, Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) model constructs an ecological, social-economy, institutional conceptual framework sustainable driving force (D) in fishery comes from fishers harvesting crab. two most sensitive attributes that affected sustainability Rapfish analysis were used as state-level DPSIR methodology. result shows variables socio-economy, institution were: caught before maturity, size, consumer attitude towards sustainability, just management, government quality, monitoring reporting, respectively. It was concluded allows better understanding how S. system works actions taken at different components. The Population dynamics of mud crab (Scylla serrata) in coast of Bandar Khamir (Hormozgan Province)

The Sampling one-year period from October 92 to October 93 on a monthly basis was conducted using gillnets and baited traps. 70% of gillnet catches during flood tide consisted of adults. Sub-adults and juveniles were 28 % and 4.5%, respectively. Similarly, during ebb tide consisted of 51.7%, 24.2%, and 24.1%, respectively. It suggests that gillnets are not sized selective gear. Effects of Mesh Size and Escape Gaps on Discarding in an Australian Giant Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) Trap Fishery

In response to concerns over excessive discarding from Australian recreational round traps (with four funnel entrances) used to target giant mud crabs, Scylla serrata, an experiment was done to assess the independent and cumulative utility of paired, bottom-located horizontal escape gaps (46×120 mm) and increasing mesh size (from 51 to 101 mm). Compared to conventional traps comprising 51-mm me...

Physico-chemical characterization of bacterial and hemagglutinins from the serum of the mud crab Scylla serrata

A naturally occurring hemagglutinin (HA), with activity against bacteria and yeast cells were detected in the serum of Scylla serrata using mammalian erythrocytes (RBC), various bacteria and yeast as indicator cells. The serum gave highest HA titer with rabbit RBC, tripsinized yeast and Vibrio fluvialis. An analysis of the physico-chemical properties of the HA showed it to be specifically depen...

Isolation and Identification of Acholeplasma sp. from the Mud Crab, Scylla serrata

For the first time, a mollicute-like organism (MLO) was cultured from moribund mud crabs (Scylla serrata) during an outbreak of clearwater disease in Zhejiang Province, China. The MLO displayed a fried-egg colony morphology in culture, did not possess a cell wall, and was not retained by 0.45 μm and 0.2 μm filters. It was able to ferment glucose, sucrose, lactose, and maltose, but it did not ut...
